Chad is a high school teacher, and he made it into the hot seat through this question:
A. Mexico City, Mexico | B. London, England
C. Ottawa, Canada | D. Warsaw, Poland
| Correct Order (drag the mouse over the letters): C-A-B-D
| Chad's winning time: 4.97 Competitors: 6/8 |
Let's see if Chad can win it all!
1. In the nursery rhyme 'Jack, Be Nimble', what does the title character jump over? | A. Candlestick | B. Cow
| C. Moon | D. Thimble
| Chad immediately says A... And he's correct! $100. |
2. Which of the following foods do you have to 'shuck' before eating? | A. Guava | B. Zucchini
| C. Oysters | D. Carrots
| Chad is another one of those players who wants to make sure he doesn't trip up on an early question, so he'll burn the 50:50. OUT | OUT | C. Oysters | B. Carrots
| Knowing that one peels carrots, he goes with C... For his final answer. Whew! He got it! |
3. What two groups does the PTA join? | A. Pairs and trios | B. Parents and teachers
| C. Plumbers and truckers | D. Petites and talls
| Chad picks B... Well, duh, of course a teacher would know this one! |
4. In which of the following places would you most likely find the condiment holder called a 'Lazy Susan'? | A. Asleep in bed | B. At the beach
| C. On top of a table | D. On the couch
| Chad chooses C... And he's nailed $500! |
5. Whose music are you a fan of if you call yourself a 'Parrothead'? | A. Grateful Dead | B. Limp Bizkit
| C. Calypso | D. Jimmy Buffett
| Uh oh. One Lifeline on the lower tier is OK, but now he's asking the circularly-seated audience. A. Grateful Dead - 3% | B. Limp Bizkit - 9% | C. Calypso - 14% | D. Jimmy Buffett - 74%
| I'm worried about the 9% who picked Limp Bizkit. They're something-heads, all right... But Chad is persuaded by the audience to select D... Which will be his final answer. And he's stumbled his way to a thousand dollars!
|
6. Which of the following is not a type of pastry? | A. Turnovers | B. Flan
| C. Croissant | D. Danishes
| Chad guesses B... And that's his final answer. Another right answer! $2000! |
7. Living human beings are composed primarily of which of the following? | A. Water | B. Air
| C. Fat | D. Protein
| Chad picks A... That'll be his final answer. Nailed it! $4000! |
8. Which comedian is known as 'Mr. Television'? | A. Bob Hope | B. Milton Berle
| C. Johnny Carson | D. Bill Cosby
| Chad picks B... Which is his final answer. He's got another one! $8000! |
9. What photographic technology did Edwin H. Land introduce in 1947? | A. Xerox copying | B. Color film
| C. Color slides | D. Polaroid camera
| Without hesitation, Chad decides to use the Phone-a-Friend and call Mike, a fellow teacher. After the obligatory stuff, here's what they said:
Chad: "You're sure?" Mike: "Yes I am." Chad: "OK, thanks Mike." Mike: "OK." (Hang up with 13 seconds left) That was quick. And so is Chad saying D... As his final answer. No problem! $16,000! |
10. What is the largest denomination of U.S. currency to be issued since 1969? | A. $100 | B. $500
| C. $1,000 | D. $10,000
| He seems pretty sure that A and B aren't right. He seems to remember a $10,000 bill being mentioned somewhere, so he'll take D... And that will be his final answer.
Kind of a gamble on this question.
And it's a gamble that...
Will cost him money. The answer was A. $100.
LOOGAROO LAMENTS: Two things here. First, Chad should've stopped. It was obvious he didn't really know the answer, plus he was out of Lifelines. $16,000 may not be the largest amount available on this show, but it's 16 times more than he left with. Also, regarding the question, the word "issued" is the key word. Sure, there might be $10,000 bills floating around, but the mint isn't making them. Try going to a bank and getting your $1,000,000 in $10,000 bills, and you'll see what I mean. |
