A. Fettucini - 4%B. Tortellini - 10%

C. Spaghetti - 0%D. Fusilli - 86%

Toby knows the large number of Italian restaurants there are in New York, so this is a pretty safe bet.

Reege: "Are you Italian?"
Toby: "No, I'm not."
Reege: "We're going to find out what you are before you leave."

Toby will trust the audience and choose D...

And that's his final answer.

It's the right one! $2000!

For $4000:

10. On which grounds would you find the official grounds of the Vice President of the United States?

A. Mount VernonB. U.S. Naval Observatory
C. The White HouseD. Monticello

Toby eliminates A, since that was Washington's home, and D, which was Jefferson's.

He has a hunch it's B, but to be sure, he's going to use his Phone-a-Friend and call Chris, his friend. This is the transcript after the formalities:

Chris: "OK, the grounds of the vice president?"
Toby: "Yes. Where does he live?"
    Chris: "I'm thinking Monticello, but-"
    Toby: "No, that's Jefferson's house."
Chris: "OK... The Naval Observatory, and what was the other one?"
Toby: "The White House." (Burp burp)

So that Lifeline gets burned up with no help.

Toby's going to take the shot on B...

For his final answer.

His Phone-a-Friend didn't help him.

But he didn't need help!
He wins $32,000!!

LOOGAROO LAMENTS: Toby did the right thing while talking to his correspondent. He knew which answers were wrong, and he corrected his friend on them. What would be better is to actually mention the ones you're doubting right away, or not even mention them as choices. Not only does it save time, but it narrows the field for your correspondent.

For $64,000:
11. In 1984, what type of heart was transplanted into Baby Fae?

A. ArtificialB. Pig
C. HumanD. Baboon

Toby quickly picks D...

Which is his final answer.

He was quick on the trigger...

Because he was right!

For $125,000, or ONE EIGHTH of a MILLION DOLLARS:
12. Who composed the opera 'The Magic Flute'?

A. Wolfgang MozartB. Giacomo Puccini
C. Richard WagnerD. Giuseppe Verdi

Toby recalls a song from the 80's which mentions the composer of this opera. The artist was Falco, and the song was "Rock Me Amadeus." He chooses A...

Which will be his final answer.

We haven't had a $125K winner in a while.

Toby stands just 1 question away from tying for the biggest winner in November, 2 away from passing him, and 3 away from receiving a seven-digit check. We start the Thursday show off in grand style:

For $250,000, or ONE QUARTER of a MILLION DOLLARS:
13. Which of the following states does NOT contain part of Yellowstone National Park?

A. WyomingB. Idaho
C. UtahD. Montana

Toby begins to contemplate where the states appear on a road map.

After drawing the states in front of him, he deduces that Utah is too far south.

Toby chooses C...

And that will be his final answer.

Maybe if Toby used the 50:50...

He might have gotten the right answer.

But instead, he decided to save it for later use.

Toby Moore has now become the fourth contestant to reach a quarter million dollars on the show. Will he become the second to reach a half mill? He's got one more Lifeline, and it might come in handy on this next question:

For $500,000, or HALF A MILLION DOLLARS:
14. Which of the following characters is not considered a 'Pokémon'?

A. JigglypuffB. Frodo
C. SquirtleD. Pikachu

I'll tell you what I thought when I saw this question:

I was thinking: "My God, this is the half-million dollar question?? Anyone with kids would know this one!!"

But Toby just doesn't recognize the characters, so he'll use his 50:50.

A. JigglypuffB. Frodo

Regis advises Toby to take his time before making any decision.

Toby does indeed have a son...

But he's far too young to be interested in Pokémon.

Toby: "God, my nephew back in Texas is having a cow right now..."

Toby would like to try for the million...

But he just doesn't know the answer to the question, so he's going to resign.
Toby Moore stops the game with $250,000.

The answer? It was B. Frodo.

LOOGAROO LAMENTS:In the case of Odd-One-Out questions, see if you can recognize one of the choices from an outside source. If you can, it's probably the right answer. Frodo was a character from The Hobbit, as Regis explained in the post-mortem. If Toby could've figured that out, chances are good he'd be the second person to see the million-dollar question.

As for myself, if I were in that hot seat, I'd be screaming like a madman. I'd have gotten through all 14 questions with only one Lifeline - the Audience Lifeline - spent. And once I saw the Pokémon question, I'd be going insane. For two months, my place of work was doing a promotion about Pokémon, and since then upon request I could probably spout off the names of 30 characters, and I might even get up to 75 if I had some time. Believe me, it's not something I'm proud of.

WINNINGS TO DATE: $1,394,000
